Important Highlights-

  • Microsoft is making it easy for Windows 11 users to switch default browsers of their choice.
  • The users will be able to change the browser with a single click within a matter of minutes.

Microsoft is simplifying switching your default browsers in Windows 11. The company has started rolling out the recent update allowing Windows 11 users to switch default browsers with just a click. The roll out began this week after the testing of updates in December.

Further, Microsoft has provided the button to switch the browser in Windows 10 but did not include the same feature in Windows 11. To cover the loophole, Microsoft, instead, asked the Windows 11 users to change the file extensions for HTTP, HTTPS, .HTML, and .HTM. This decision by Microsoft turned out to be a distaste to the Windows 11 users and its competitors, including Mozilla, Brave, and even Google’s head of Chrome disapproved of Microsoft’s decision.

The overhaul to Windows 11 will now allow the users to get into the default apps section and search desired web browser. The next step would display a button, asking you to make the browser the default browser on your Windows 11 PC. Overall, the complete setting only requires a click by the users to successfully change your default browser as per the user’s contentment. It is undeniably a great move by the company.

Microsoft’s consideration in listening to all the criticism and reactions from all over the world and finally bringing a change in the previous setting is worth applauding. Moreover, Microsoft hasn’t stopped introducing updates however big or small. It is continuously working towards the enhancement of Windows 11 for the users to stay contented with the services. Meanwhile, Microsoft is coming up with the latest plan to introduce some major changes to Windows 11 at an upcoming event on April 5th.
